For instance, if you give away coffee mugs with your company logo ...

Giving them something to remember (you by)

Promotional gifts actually serve a dual purpose. On the one hand, they make you look good. Yes, it's true. People love to receive freebies, and they will likely be open to at least listening to what you have to say if you offer them a gift that doesn't need to be reciprocated. On the other hand, they enable you to promote your products or services every time the recipient sees or uses the promotional gifts.

For instance, if you give away coffee mugs with your company logo emblazoned on the side, then every single time someone reaches for one of the mugs, he or she will see your company name and logo. If your company sells, say, coffee beans, then the recipients of you mugs will likely be interested in contacting you should they ever want some roasted coffee beans.

As seen in the aforementioned example, it makes sense to offer promotional gifts that in some way, shape or form tie into your company and its products and services. So if your company sells computers, than some excellent promotional items for you would include computer covers and mouse pads. That way, people would immediately think about your company when doing computer-related things-such as surfing the Internet or typing up a letter.
